Scales Logistics History

Dating back to 1897, Scales was one of the early pioneers of the New Zealand freight and shipping business. Formed to challenge the freight rates being implemented by the large British Shipping Lines, a group of farmers approached Geo H Scales to charter ships on their behalf. In 1912 the venture became a private company that we operate under today. 

Over the last 100 years Scales has evolved within a constantly changing environment both in terms of customer needs and technology. Scales has grown, diversified and built strategies that can stand the test of time. We continue to seek out new opportunities and relationships to build on the Company that Scales Logistics is today.  

We work with Australian & New Zealand producers to get our goods to and from the world. This is our place in the economy. We’re passionate about it. We’re growing it. We’re deepening and broadening our involvement in it.
